I think I have to choose to be a "literate good citizen". I haven't read enough Faulkner, Proust, or Joyce to qualify any higher.
As our hostess knows, I have always maintained that I will read Faulkner when I finally grow up - to date I have yet to crack "As I lay dying" or "The sound and the fury".
Question to the literati out there - how many of you have actually read "War and Peace"? I have yet to meet someone who has actually read it.
