Maybe this is why I don't have a library job yet. Common Wisdom seems to say that librarians (and academics "and other learned types") don't like Wikipedia. I directed a patron to it just a week ago. When I checked back ("did you find what you needed?"), he said it helped. Since he had gone back repeatedly to nearly everyone that morning looking for more, I don't think he was just being polite.

While I have had no previous experience with Wikipedia (is this something that I should have found in college?), I was enthralled by the HUGE section on famous gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered people. I did have to laugh at the fact that they included only "confirmed" GLBT people - wondering how exactly you confirm one's status. Anyhow. I'm sorry we missed each other while I was back in Richmond. I hope you had a wonderful holiday!

Well, it says it was established in 2001, but I have only known about it for 6 months or so.
